The official event for the Community

For the fourth year in a row, the Italian Showdown receives the official designation by CrossFit and brings fans of all levels to the game floor

Since 2019 the organization of the Italian Showdown has had the honor of being chosen by CrossFit to enter the circuit of official competitions, which were then called “Sanctionals” and which represented one of the stages of admission to the CrossFit Games.

Today the competitive season follows a different path, which takes athletes to the Games passing through the Open, the Quarter Finals and the Semifinals, which are managed directly by CrossFit. With this qualification process, the best athletes in the world are selected to compete in the CrossFit Games and get the title of “Fittest on Earth”.

Along with this new competitive path, CrossFit has defined the criteria for determining a calendar of independent competitions that are aimed not only at elite athletes but mainly at the Community. Thus the “Licensed Events” were born, which meet specific technical requirements and guarantee standards of quality and uniformity.

In 2021 the Italian Showdown was the first event in Italy to receive this designation.

At the same time, the organization of the Italian Showdown established a long-term partnership with Italian Exhibition Group, to bring the CrossFit competition inside RiminiWellness, the leading fitness fair in Europe. This led to the all-time attendance record in six years, with tens of thousands of spectators on site and presence on Tv.

Thanks to these results, the Italian Showdown is again a Licensed CrossFit® Event for 2022 and, for the fourth year in a row, enters the official competition calendar. The seventh edition of the Italian Showdown will take place from 2 to 5 June 2022 in Rimini, during the week that separates the two European CrossFit semifinals.

The European Semifinals will take place May 20-22 in the Netherlands and June 10-12 in England and will be reserved for athletes qualified through the Quarter Finals. Instead, anyone can participate in the Italian Showdown, without any qualification: just be among the first 500 registrants who get a slot to take the field and challenge their limits.
