How to prepare for workouts

Many of you are asking us when the workouts of the 2023 Italian Showdown will be announced and how to prepare to face the competition

Unlike past editions of the Italian Showdown, this year there will no longer be a unique Open category, but 13 skill / gender / age categories. This means that the workouts will have loads and skills appropriate to the different categories.

In addition, there will no longer be any elimination phase, nor will there be any cuts troughout the competition, so all participants will perform all workouts. Thus, there is no reason to announce workouts many months in advance.

This year, most workouts will be announced during the weeks leading up to the competition, while one workout may be unveiled on the same day. In any case, there will be enough time to get acquainted with the movement standards.

What we can tell you right now is that the best way to prepare yourself for the workouts you’ll have to face is… doing CrossFit! Perform the WODs that are posted daily on and participate in the CrossFit Open.

Another good idea is to retry the open workouts of past years, because the loads and movement standards we adopt in the Italian Showdown workouts are based largely on the specifications of the CrossFit Open.

And then there will always be the unknown and the unknowable!
